So after this glorious night, you might be feeling really guilty. Maybe you let yourself cheat a little. Or a lot. If you woke up today feeling as bloated as a whale, follow these simple tips to detox all that junk food.
1. Sleep. Let yourself sleep a little longer the next few days. Go to bed earlier, wake up a little later, and even take a short nap during the day. Your body heals and restores itself while you sleep so this is probably one of the best ways to get yourself back on track.
2. Drink, drink, drink. Drink a ton a water! Next to sleep, this is the most important thing to do! Water flushes out toxins and will help your body rehydrate. This is especially helpful if you had one too many celebratory drinks. A couple things to try. Do the gallon challenge. Get a gallon of water and drink a little bit every hour until you've finished the whole gallon by the end of the day. Detox water is also a great way to get more water! My favorite combos are:
- Star fruit, strawberries, and mint
- Pear, blueberries, and pineapple
- Strawberries, basil, and raspberries
3. Eat blueberries. Even if it's just a handful, try to eat some blueberries. Blueberries are a superfood and filled with some incredible antioxidants. They will replenish your cells with healthy nutrients that will fuel your body as lessen the impacts of the detox.
4. Exercise. If you don't usually exercise, try to at least go for a short walk. Exercising will speed up the detoxing process and get everything moving. Trust me, you'll feel so much better physically and mentally afterwards!
5. Apple cider vinegar. I saved the best for last! This is probably one of the most powerful nutrition sources out there. There are so many health benefits associated with this little drink. Not only will is help you detox, but it is also a powerful tool used to help your body regulate your weight! It is very strong and some people have a hard time drinking it. Here's a recipe that will almost make it taste good:
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon raw honey
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 squeezed lemon
Mix it all together and enjoy!
I hope you love these tips and find them as helpful as I did! Happy detoxing!
