Skin Care Routine

Everyone wants flawless skin. No blemishes, no red spots, soft and supple, that's the dream right? To get this, having a good skin care routine is key!

Here is how I keep my skin healthy and glowing!

1. Wash your face! But be picky about your face washes! Stay away from generic face washes and even ones that say they'll help acne. These are filled with harsh chemicals that strip the natural oils from your face. Ever get that tight, itchy feeling after washing? That's why. Your skin is actually more irritated from the dryness and will start to overproduce oils. This causes the bad breakouts again and the cycle continues. Your best bet is to go with a gentle and all natural face wash that isn't full of chemicals. My favorite brand is Shea Moisture! I love, love, LOVE this brand! Everything is natural so you don't have to worry about what your skin is absorbing. I use their products on my skin and hair and love them so much. For my face, I use the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Body Wash. My skin is very sensitive. So even though this isn't specifically meant to use as a face wash, it works perfectly for me! Gentle and hydrating, and no tightness after! I only use this on days that I wear makeup. I try not to wear makeup everyday to let my skin rest and breathe. So I'd say I probably only use this 3-4 times a week on my face. This is all my skin needs. Anymore, and I've washed too much and my face gets dry.

2. 1-2 times a week, I use my Conair Facial Skincare System. I usually use the gentlest setting and only use when I'm in the shower and my pores are open. My face feels AMAZING after! So soft and super clean. Just be careful to not push too hard. Just put it to your face and let it do the rest!

3. Once week after a shower, I use my Jelly Pong Pong Lip Scrub. This is my favorite lip scrub! It smells good enough to eat and is so effective. I take a pea sized amount and smear it on my lips. Then, I take a tooth brush and scrub vigorously for a minute or two. Wash off and apply your favorite chapstick to lock in the moisture. Your lips will thank you after.

4. Maracuja oil. This stuff is my secret weapon. It isn't heavy like other face oils. Apply three drops to your hands and pat all over your face. It is light, but super moisturizing. I use it before I put on foundation, after a good face wash, and even on my lips after a scrub. It has reduced my red spots, brightened my skin, and just given it so much glow and hydration. I use this every other night.

5. Last, get a good moisturizer! I use Lather's AHA Duo. Twice a week, I use the face cream. I use the hand cream whenever parts of my skin need something a little extra. The face cream smells like avocados and it beyond hydrating! I usually mix it with a couple drops of maracuja oil to really give my skin some love!

Besides topical treatments, the best thing you can do for your skin is eat healthy! If you feed your body junk, it'll show. Your body wants nourishing and hydrating foods like fresh fruits, avocado, lots of vegetables, and pure protein. If you're not fueling your body right, no amount of topical skin treatments will help. If you keep yourself healthy on the inside, it will show on the outside!

Happy Friday!

  1. Hey- I tried one of the Lather products since you recommended ( I tried the glycoloc acid mask cuz lactic acid makes me itch that's what is in the cream you have shown). Anyhow, totally LOVE it! Thanks for the rec! I may try the hand cream next.
