The Vegan Cleanse

So if you've read some of my other posts, you probably know that I've struggled with autoimmune issues for awhile now. I've tried everything under the sun from conventional doctors to functional medicine without seeing much of a change. Until I recently discovered Anthony William, author of the Medical Medium.

I can honestly say that I am more hopeful than ever after reading his book. I started to implement his ideas a few days ago, starting the 28 day cleanse with a juice fast.

So I've gotten some questions about exactly what the 28 day cleanse is. For 28 days, you eat nothing but raw fruits and vegetables, with some exceptions. So basically raw, vegan, and grain free. You might be a little surprised at first, but after reading his book things make a lot more sense. I highly encourage you to read it!

Even though I've only been on this cleanse for a few days, it's the first time I've been able to pinpoint something helping. My mood improved, I have a little more energy, and my tummy is much happier with me! Feeding myself with nourishing, healing foods is showing and I am hopeful that it will continue!

I was really skeptical before doing this. I mean, it's basically the opposite of what doctors typically say. But Anthony has such a wonderful gift and has helped so many people, I figured it couldn't hurt to give this I try. I didn't have much to lose!

He explains in his book how fruits and vegetables do have an incredible amount of protein, vitamins, and minerals. The thing is to be sure you are eating plenty of them. Animal protein used to make me so sick. I would take a few bites and be full for the rest of the day. But I have eaten so much more than I ever used to the past couple days and don't feel near as sick.

I have also enjoyed the simplicity of this diet. This 28 day reset has really expanded my tastes. I used to hate foods like sprouts and mangoes. Now, I can't get enough of them! I have enjoyed lots of variety like papaya, clover sprouts, butter lettuce, bananas, celery, wild blueberries, and dates. I'm also saving a lot of time by not having to spend so much time over an oven preparing food. As a college student, I've learned time is of the essence!

So far, I am really enjoying the benefits of this cleanse. Not to say I can't wait until I can start eating more nuts, seeds, and grains again though! But overall, I am hopeful for the next few weeks! I plan on doing another post later on in the cleanse to share the progress I'm hopeful of making!

Have a great Monday!
